In Chapters 6/7, occurs one of the better B&G scenes of any serial I've seen. Our heroine is nabbed by the bad guys as they're leaving the scene of the crime. They then use her to call in our hero, the Copperhead. Next, the trap is set: Ella is bound wrists to chair arms, body to chair, ankles together, and gagged throughly with a white scarf (again over mouth - early movie style). The villain then explains his nepharious death trap; if the Copperhead doesn't arrive by midnight, a specially designed clock will cause balls to be dropped in an acid bath, thereby releasing a poisonous gas which will ephiziate brunette heroine Lois Scott (Neal). If he does arrive, he will be electricuted when he opens the door, but his death will cause the deathtrap to short-circuit. At two minutes before the witching hour, Doctor Satan is astonished that the Copperhead hasn't arrived (his alter ego has been detained by the evil Doctor's minions), but with a shrug he allows the execution to procede. Lois then spends the next few minutes squirming and struggling while a nearby clock ticks away to doomsday. Lots of very nice closeups of her face.
