Title: La Montaña Del Diablo (1975) aka La Montana Del Diablo
Medium: Movie
Actress: Three Unknowns
Description: Bizarre Mexican film set in modern times, but includes many hoary Western tropes. The film is a mess, but includes numerous scenes of damsels in distress.
Early on, we see a gunslinger blaze away at a target while a lovely bound and gagged Indian maiden glares daggers at him. Her wrists are bound behind her back and she’s tightly cleave-gagged with a burgundy-colored bandanna. His captive is wearing a low-cut, tight-fitting buckskin dress with plenty of fringe. In a later scene, the gunsel shoots off feathers he’s tucked into the Indian girl’s handband for target practice. His victim is still bound and gagged and we get a decent look at her wrists tied behind her back with plenty of rope. Later there’s brief view of the gunslinger cuddling his girlfriend while the Indian woman stands bound and gagged in the background, her wrists tied in an upper spreadeagle to tree limbs.
In the next scene, a different woman is knocked unconscious, tossed into the back of a sedan and whisked into the mountains. We next see her with her wrists bound overhead to a tree, the back of her white dress torn away while she’s whipped by a thug. A hero wearing a ridiculously large sombrero rescues her. The woman suffers no ill-effects from her ordeal – in fact we see no marks or blood from her scourging.
In a later scene, a shapely middle-aged woman is shown seated on a chair with her wrists bound behind her, cleave gagged with a brown bandanna. A muscle-bound and shirtless male companion seated next to her is in a similar predicament. She’s wearing a blue blouse with large white polka dots, light-colored slacks and has a scarf wrapped over her hair. Her captors include a demented hunchbacked dwarf.
In another scene, a woman is shown seated on the floor board in the back of a big-finned sedan. She’s cleave-gagged with a red bandanna, her wrists are tied behind her and her ankles securely roped. Her hair is worn in thick pigtails and she’s wearing a long cotton dress. When the car arrives at its destination, she’s scooped up by a black-clad man and carried up a hill. We see the damsel’s wrists are secured by strips of cloth. In a later scene, she’s laid on an altar, still bound and gagged, and anointed with oil while a panther stands guard. There’s the sound of chanting in the background. When the young woman awakens the next morning, she is no longer bound and rises to embrace her erstwhile captor.
In the last scene, the Indian damsel is still cleave-gagged and tied to a tree in an upper spreadeagle. When her would-be rescuer tries to untie her, the gunslinger, who was sprawled on the ground apparently dead, rises and shoots the hero in the back and for good measure, kills the Indian maiden who is last seen hanging by the wrists in her bonds still gagged.
